Red Bull Ring is hosting the fifth 2018 round of European Supersport 300 (which is included in Alpe Adria series) and who got the spotlight is Czech girl Alexandra Pelikanova. The 18-year-old rider from Brno, who took part in last June’s World Championship Brno Round as a wildcard, made a stunning performance in wet Race 1, where she finished 2nd after fighting for the win with Sam Lochoff.
Pelikanova stayed in 2nd position till halfway the race, when she took the lead by passing Lochoff at Schlossgold. The South African went back to first a few corners later, but Pelikanova remained very close to him. Brno lady tried to overtake him again at the 8th and last lap, but Lochoff resisted hard to her assault and finally he won ahead of Pelikanova and other South African Taric van der Merwe.
Despite missing the win, Pelikanova gave the spectators an amazing performance and today’s second place is her best result in the championship after many top-10 finishes. And one more strong signal from women in motorcycling…
