BSB Oulton Park, Race 2: Double win for Leon Haslam

Jason O’Halloran was really on fire in Race 2 and just the best Leon Haslam could beat him. After the triumph in Race 1, Pocket Rocket won also the second BSB race at Oulton Park and so he grabbed his first double in 2018 season and, due to Bradley Ray’s disappointing performance (7th), the championship lead. Haslam, who will participate in World Superbike Imola and Donington Park rounds with Puccetti Kawasaki, showed once again that he wants to be 2018 BSB Champion and disprove this taboo, since he hasn’t won a British Superbike title yet.

In Race 1 Haslam managed to limit Jake Dixon, but in Race 2 he won after fighting with stunning Jason O’Halloran. After being overtaken in the last third of the race, the Honda Racing UK rider remained close to Haslam till the end and finally he finished 2nd with just 86 milliseconds off Haslam. So, “Pocket Rocket” scored his third win in a row and the 34th in his career.

Thanks to this double, Haslam has taken the lead in championship standings by passing Bradley Ray, just seventh in Race 2. The 20-year-old guy from Ashford was overtaken by Joshua Brookes (6th with McAMS Yamaha) just before the chequered flag and he finished also behind PBM Ducati riders Shane Byrne and Glenn Irwin, fourth and fifth just behind Jake Dixon (once again on the podium). The next BSB will take place on 17th June at Knockhill (Scotland), where the riders will race after the long “Road Races break”.
