Leon Haslam seems really unstoppable in this 2018 season. After the double scored at Oulton Park, ‘Pocket Rocket‘ took his fourth win in a row and in 2018 at Snetterton 300. The JG Speedfit Bournemouth Kawasaki rider had a bad start, but he was able to recover lap after lap and finally he won thanks to the mistake of Bradley Ray. The young BSB rising star crashed out at tenth lap while leading the race and this brought victory to the hands of Haslam.
2010 World Superbike runner-up overtook Danny Buchan, Jake Dixon and Josh Brookes and finally he passed also Glenn Irwin. This way Haslam triumphed for the 35th time in BSB and for the first time at Snetterton 300, as he crossed the line earlier than Glenn Irwin. The latter will start Race 2 from pole position, since he performed the fastest lap in Race 1. Behind him, Jake Dixon ranked third after a wonderful overtake on Josh Brookes at Coram. Danny Buchan (FS-3 Racing Kawasaki) scored convincing 5th place, followed by Tarran Mackenzie (McAMS Yamaha) and Peter Hickman (Smiths Racing BMW).
It was a troubled debut for Andrew Irwin: Glenn’s brother, at Snetterton to replace Shane Byrne in Be Wiser PBM Ducati, crashed at Justin Wilson (ex-Montreal) and involved also Michael Laverty and Honda Racing UK pair Dan Linfoot-Jason O’Halloran. The latter is still recovering from right ankle injury and he was immediately taken to Medical Centre for further examination.
To be remarked, Carl Phillips didn’t contest Race 1 and he will miss also Race 2. Why? Because he left Gearlink Kawasaki after QP…
