Snetterton 300 hosted wonderful racing in BSB Race 2 and finally the win went to Leon Haslam, who managed to beat Jake Dixon and Joshua Brookes by a few milliseconds. The JG Speedfit Bournemouth Kawasaki rider and Brookes elbowed each other just before the finish line and this helped Dixon in beating Brookes for second place. One more zero, instead, for Bradley Ray, who crashed together with Glenn Irwin.
Haslam didn’t push too hard in the first part of the race and he took the lead just at the second-last lap, when he overtook Brookes. Haslam then started duelling with MCAMS Yamaha Aussie (back to his usual level after a tough start of the season) and this helped Dixon in turning the duo into a trio. The end was one to remember: Brookes tried to overtake Haslam on the inside and the pair came to the finish line with elbows open, situation that nearly helped Dixon. Finally, Pocket Rocket won with just 40 milliseconds of advantage on Dixon and Brookes had to content with 3rd place by just 129 milliseconds.
Leon Haslam had never won at Snetterton 300 before and this win, the fifth in a row in this season, makes him increase his advantage in championship standings: 64 points more than Bradley Ray, 67 more than injured Shane Byrne. Behind the front trio, Dan Linfoot completed his comeback weekend with a 4th-place finish, followed by Danny Buchan and Senior TT winner Peter Hickman. The next 2018 BSB race day will be hosted at Knockhill (Scotland) on 8th July.
