BSB Test Snetterton: Luke Mossey sets the fastest lap

At British Superbike Test on Snetterton track Luke Mossey returned being competitive after a difficult start of the season. The JG Speedfit Bournemouth Kawasaki rider was just 5 milliseconds (!) faster than 21-year-old Bradley Ray, but who people are mainly caring of is Shane Byrne. The “King” of BSB, only Be Wiser PBM Ducati rider taking part in this Test session (since Glenn Irwin is contesting North West 200), crashed in the morning at Turn 3, named in the honour of Jonathan Palmer. Shakey was then hospitalized for all the necessary checks: he’s not in serious conditions, but deeper examination is needed in order to know the real entity of the injury.

Shane Byrne’s fall and injury represent a bad event in a day that, in any case, provided much interesting information. Just 19 riders hit the track (due to North West 200…), ad the fastest one was Luke Mossey, whose lap in 1’48″008 was enough to beat Bradley Ray (Buildbase Suzuki) by just 5 milliseconds and Michael Laverty (Tyco BMW) by one tenth. After the wildcard ride in World Superbike at Imola, Leon Haslam closed the test in fourth place, but he lost a lot of time because of a technical problem in his Kawasaki.

Good improvement by Gino Rea, who ranked fifth on his OMG Racing Suzuki. The ex-World Supersport and Moto2 rider was followed by Tarran Mackenzie (6th) and Josh Brookes (8th), with Danny Buchan (FS-3 Kawasaki) seventh between the two MCAMS Yamaha riders. Among those who didn’t participate in the test we have James Ellison, who was replaced once again by “special tester” Chris Walker (Is a wildcard entry coming soon?…), and also Honda Racing UK. The latter missed the test due to Dan Linfoot’s and Jason O’Halloran’s injuries (O’Halloran suffered a leg fracture during World Superbike weekend at Imola).
