CEV Moto2 Catalunya, Race 2: Augusto Fernandez successfully wins over Raffin

After an intense final battle, Augusto Fernandez managed to defeat Race 1 winner Jesko Raffin. Tulovic stepped on the podium too.

The Moto2 second race at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit gave us an exceptional fight for the victory: Augusto Fernandez and Jesko Raffin engaged in an exciting competition that lasted until the very end. Eventually, the Easyrace team frontman won over the Swiss rider, with Lukas Tulovic to complete the podium.

At the beginning we had a great start for the first riders, with a group of six fighting for the lead until we lost Dimas Ekky Pratama, who crashes after some turns, compromising his race. But the battle for the podium didn’t end there, and despite Raffin had been strongly leading the race, Augusto Fernandez managed to climb up to the second place and tried to keep up with the Swiss rider. Tulovic, Garzo and Pons stayed behind, fighting for the remaining position on the podium.

The situation remained stable until the final laps when the couple at the front decided to start a hard-fought duel for the win. Eventually, Augusto Fernandez triumphed for just two tenths over Jesko Raffin. We certainly witnessed a nice battle for the podium: its last position went to Lukas Tulovic after Edgar Pons got a penalty (he registered the best time on the lap with a 1:44.904) for going out of track. Tommaso Marcon finished 5th ahead of Xavier Cardelus and Hector Garzo, with Brnenner, Zaccone and Meggle filling the last positions in the top ten.
