CEV Moto3 Valencia, Race 1: Sergio Garcia clear-cut win

The Junior Team EG 0.0 rider Sergio Garcia conquers a great victory in the Ricardo Tormo Circuit first race. Aleix Viu and Jeremy Alcoba also on the podium, while the first among Italians is Riccardo  Rossi, 7th.

Sergio Garcia has been dominating right from the start of the first race in Valencia this weekend: the Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 forerunner comes back on the highest step of the podium after his first successful race last year during Race 2 in Catalunya. He won by a large margin over his fellow countrymen Aleix Viu and Jeremy Alcoba, second and third on the podium respectively ahead of Raul Fernandez (newly leader of the ranking) and Yuki Kunii. Riccardo Rossi finished 7th as the only Italian rider in the top 10, while the former leader Manuel Pagliani arrived 13th.

An amazing kick off for Garcia, who immediately started leading the race ahead of Alcoba. There have been multiple changes among the pilots heading the group, with the first ones on the grid soon losing positions. Marc Garcia race only lasted a few rounds and the Max Biaggi team’s rider soon fell, but with no consequences. His teammate wasn’t luckier, as Davide Pizzoli got a penalty for an early start: he got a ride through that inevitably lead him to lose an already difficult race. Garcia looked unbeatable but he was closely followed by a large group of riders made up of Alcoba, Fernandez, Viu, Kunii, Chantra, Ogura and Vietti who engaged in a fierce battle for the other positions on the podium. Five rounds before the end of the race Ogura and Vietti fell down, while Chantra couldn’t keep up the pace.

The Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 rider Sergio Garcia crossed the finish line almost alone, winning his first race of the season but the second in this Championship. Together with him on the podium are Aleix Viu and Jeremy Alcoba, who eventually managed to win over Raul Fernandez (the new leader of the ranking) and Yuki Kunii. Somkiat Chantra finished 6th, while 7th is the Italian riders Riccardo Rossi who performed very well in this race managing to stay in the top 10. Among the best ten riders also Gerard Riu, Filip Salac e Can Öncü.
