MotoGP, Thailand: Marc Marquez gets the upper hand against Andrea Dovizioso

Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso gave us an amazing show today. Maverick Viñales 3rd on the podium.

Marc Marquez managed to become the 1st winner of the MotoGP Thailand Grand Prix. This success didn’t come easy, as he had to fight hard against Andrea Dovizioso until the very last turn. With this new victory, Marquez is one step closer to officially become the new World Champion. Maverick Viñales closed the race 3rd, ahead of Valentino Rossi and Johann Zarco.

Pedrosa changed bike just before the beginning of the race, but then we had a relatively quiet start. Marquez performed an outstanding kickoff, followed by Rossi, Dovizioso and Crutchlow. The rookie Nakagami slipped on Turn 12 just a few laps after the beginning of the race. The riders in the leading group didn’t leave too much margin from one another, but it was the Ducati Team rider together with the current World Championship who gave the pace. Pedrosa gave some chills too, as he managed to climb up to the 5th place just behind Viñales, despite being left out of the top 10 after a few turns. However, the Honda Spanish rider’s race ended seven laps before the end, when he fell on Turn 5.

Only four laps before the end, with Rossi 4th after Viñales managed to overtake him, the final duel between Marquez and Dovizioso fired up, close followed by Yamaha riders. On the last turn, Marc Marquez managed to win over the rival Andrea Dovizioso. Maverick Viñales took up the last podium step, while Valentino Rossi crossed the finish line behind him, followed by Johann Zarco (5th), Alex Rins (6th), Cal Crutchlow (7th) and Alvaro Bautista (8th). Danilo Petrucci and Jack Miller filled up the remaining two positions in the top 10.
