MotoGP: Claudio Domenicali “Marquez is incorrect, he must be punished”

After Mugello race, Claudio Domenicali had something to say against Marc Marquez, who aggressively overtook Danilo Petrucci during the first lap. Here’s what Ducati CEO said: “It was incorrect. Marc was very aggressive and Race Direction should be more severe. It was a very important race for Danilo and at that point he had to push harder to climb the classification. I think that a rider who makes another rider lose five positions should be penalised, especially if he had already done it. He may be the best one in the field, but he mustn’t race that way”.

EMBARRASSMENT –  Some days ago Domenicali said that Jorge Lorenzo had failed, since he wasn’t able to make the most of Ducati. After what happened at Mugello, the CEO adjusted his words. “We believed in him. What was missing is a win. Jorge worked very hard, but also the engineers and the team did it. I was very sincere, because it’s always frustrating when you don’t see the results, but some days after I sent him a message to say that he’s a champion”.

FUTURE – When he was asked whether Lorenzo’s win at Mugello could affect the plans of Ducati, Domenicali said: “In Ducati we follow a way of thinking, that leads to the removal of what happened in the previous race. But I admit that this is difficult to be forgotten. We’ll see…”. He didn’t know that, in the meantime, Lorenzo was definitely closing the door to Ducati.
