
The people forecasted a fight between Marc Márquez and Ducati riders and this is what happened in Qualifying Practice: the championship leader, Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso fought for the pole position till the end and finally the fight was won by Repsol Honda star (photo credit: Marco Serena). Dovizioso ranked 2nd just 2 millisecond behind the Spaniard, while Jorge Lorenzo finished third. For what concerns Yamaha, the first M1 in the classification is Zarco’s one (6th), while Viñales was 11th and Rossi 14th, outside Q2. Tomorrow the race will start at 14:00 local time, as usual.
Most of the riders picked medium-soft tyre combination, but Dovizioso chose to put a soft front tyre and a medium rear one. In the last minutes Lorenzo, Dovizioso and Márquez fought hard for the pole position and finally the reigning World Champion defeated ‘Dovi’ (by just two milliseconds) and Lorenzo. Fourth place went to Danilo Petrucci, third Ducati rider in the classification. Cal Crutchlow finished fifth ahead of Johann Zarco and Tito Rabat, while Andrea Iannone was eighth followed by Dani Pedrosa, Alex Rins, Maverick Viñales and Alvaro Bautista. Bautista and Rins are the riders who came to Q2 after contesting Q1, while Valentino Rossi will start 14th after not making it to the final 15 minutes of the day.
