MotoGP Argentina: Jorge Lorenzo fought with Luigi Dall’Igna

Jorge Lorenzo had a fight with Luigi Dall’Igna, the Ducati Corse General Manager. The news, given by La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Paolo Ianieri on Thursday 5th April, was also confirmed by Dall’Igna, interviewed by the “Pink Newspaper”.

There were some rumours about a bad fight between you and Jorge.

«Fight? Well, it’s clear that a rider and a General Manager don’t agree on everything. I think it was an exchange of views rather than a fight and the intention was to help each other. I’m sure that if he manages to be a bit calmer, the team will work better and he will get more easily the results he aims».

During the winter, Jorge had employed Alex Debon as his coach, but they’ve already parted ways. Was it the wrong choice for him?

«I know Alex very well. He was Aprilia test rider in 250cc class and he was Jorge’s coach already when Jorge was in Aprilia. Honestly, we should know also what happened outside the tests, before saying something about it. I’m not going to judge Jorge’s decision: if he did it, he must have had some reasons to do it».

In Ducati, negotiations for next season are in a crucial phase. Will Dovizioso be the first one you resign?

«We’re working on it. I would like to end the negotiations at Jerez».

By contrast, Lorenzo is not 100% sure to renew with Ducati.

«Well, Dovizioso could leave as well. Negotiations will be complicated with both riders and we will have to manage the situation very well. I hope both Andrea and Jorge will remain, but everything can happen».

In the meantime, Jorge Lorenzo received the official apologies of Brembo, Ducati technical supplier, after the crash he had in Qatar GP.  “For what concerns the crash Ducati’s Jorge Lorenzo had during the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix, Brembo is really sorry for the fact the crash, which happened at the 12th lap of the race, was caused by a technical issue with the brakes” the company from Bergamo declared. “The problem was individuated after careful analysis carried out by our technicians and we resolved it in order not to make it happen again”.
