Sam Lowes è il migliore dei tre giorni di test Moto2 in Qatar. Il pilota britannico precede di pochi centesimi Marco Bezzecchi e Remy Gardner.
Moto2 tests in Losail ending in the sign of Sam Lowes. The Briton of Elf Marc VDS Racing closes the lead thanks to a 1:58.655 recorded in the last session this Sunday. Very short ranking, starting with Marco Bezzecchi and Remy Gardner, who follow the # 22 by a few cents. For some comparison in terms of times, the 2020 tests ended with a 1:58.520 achieved by Jorge Navarro. The best race lap is 1:58.711 (Thomas Lüthi, 2019), the absolute record is 1:58.136 (Joe Roberts, 2020), while the best time during the 2020 GP is 1:59.218 by Tetsuta Nagashima. And in a few days, it will get serious, Friday is time for the first free practice towards the inaugural GP.
FIRST TURN
Once more this first session of the day turns out to be definitely nothing. Only the rookie Barry Baltus makes a few laps, all the others prefer to preserve the limited mileage available to them for the next two rounds. For the NTS RW Racing GP driver, however, this is the personal best time recorded so far in the three days of category tests on the Losail track (2:03.0 on day-1, 2:02.8 on the second day).
SECOND TURN
Much more activity in the second session of the day, with all the riders in action. For the first time, Marcel Schrötter stands out, with the best personal time in front of our standard-bearer Marco Bezzecchi. Also worthy of note is the still recovering Jake Dixon in third position, as well as the American neo-Italtrans Joe Roberts immediately behind, or the best 2020 rookie Aron Canet in fifth place and not far away. The best rookie of the round is Cameron Beaubier, 13th nine-tenths from the Intact GP driver in command.
THIRD TURN
Following the script of the previous two days, we see the best as chronometric references in the final session. Sam Lowes thinks in particular to place the paw: for the British best time of the day for 13 thousandths on Marco Bezzecchi, +0.048 on Remy Gardner. Once more, a particularly short ranking in this category, with 19 drivers in less than a second. The top rookie is Raúl Fernández, 8th three tenths from the top.
