Moto3 Brno, FP2: Unexpected 1st for Masaki, Canet 2nd ahead of an Italian trio

Kazuki Masaki, rookie of the RBA BOE Skull Riders Team, got the 1st position in the FP2 ranking, close followed by Canet, Bulega, Dalla Porta and Di Giannantonio.

The second session of FP gets a leading rookie: we are talking about Kazuki Masaki, who managed to register the best time of the round (2nd best of the day) just a few minutes before the end, finishing ahead of Aron Canet and an Italian group made up of Nicolò Bulega, Lorenzo Dalla Porta, and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Some minutes after the beginning of the session, the situation stabilized with Di Giannantonio taking the lead, followed by Bezzecchi, Antonelli, and Arbolino. But then the Sic58 Squadra Corse rider suffered a violent highside on Turn 13, luckily with no serious injuries. In the second half of the round, Rodrigo managed to climb up a few positions and temporarily took the head of the group. This situation didn’t last long though, as all the riders in this round were trying to register better and better times at every lap.

The most important changes in the ranking took place in the last few minutes: eventually, the rookie Kazuki Masaki surprisingly closed the FP2 with an excellent 1st place, closely followed by Aron Canet, Nicolò Bulega, and Lorenzo Dalla Porta. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished 5th ahead of Adam Norrodin and Gabriel Rodrigo, with Kaito Toba 8th followed by Jakub Kornfeil and Philipp Öttl (who nonetheless managed to register the best time of the day).
