MotoGP, Rins:“It will be another special year. If Márquez comes back soon…”

Alex Rins prepares for the new MotoGP season, taking all possible precautions and with a constantly improving shoulder. “I’m aiming to level up again.”

Waiting to get back into action for the first official MotoGP tests, riders train as much as possible, dividing between motocross and tracks with road bikes. No less is Alex Rins, who with all the necessary precautions is organizing to prepare for the new season. Little luck in Portimão due to the weather, he is now in Almería to continue his training. Of course, thoughts turn to the new season: the Suzuki rider expects a year very similar to that of 2020, with various cancellations and changes. Despite everything, however, he can’t wait to start competing again.

I’m happy because I haven’t contracted the virus, it’s quite dangerous. I’m trying to keep myself safe, waiting for the first tests and the first races.” Thus began his blog on the Suzuki website, to demonstrate once more how much attention is needed in this period. He regretted not being able to go to Malaysia, but underlines a situation that will certainly have some repercussions on the 2021 MotoGP World Championship. “We still don’t know how the season will go,” he admitted. “There will probably be cancellations and changes to accommodate the situation in the world. But I can’t wait to get started, even if we face another strange year.”

ABOUT BRIVIO, TRAININGS AND HIS OPPONENTS

Once more, there is a comment on Davide Brivio’s departure, an important part of Suzuki’s rebirth up until last year. “It will be strange not to see him during the GPs, we have built a great relationship and he has always given me good advice. I wish him the best of luck! But I hope to see him again maybe at some races, maybe as a guest.” He then explains how he is training. “Gym, motocross, cardio … A little bit of everything. But also stock bikes, go-karts, to be in race mode.” Also underlining that “The recovery of my shoulder is going well, it is a real relief.

2021, as he said, will be another strange but certainly intense year. “My teammate and the other rivals will be very competitive. Last year we saw so many different winners and they were all very close to the end. Consistency will be essential as always; an exciting season will come out of it.” He highlights two drivers in particular: “Joan will certainly be quick having won the title last year, and if Marc Márquez can return soon the values will mix again.” On a personal level, “I aim to move up a level again, starting from the successes of 2020.”
