MotoGP: Andrea Iannone gives up Sepang Test

Andrea Iannone missed the last day of MotoGP testing at Sepang. The Italian reached Malaysia in a poor health state, following maybe an infection caused by a plastic surgery. Meanwhile, Aprilia is satisfied with the performance of 2019 RS-GP machine, but still far from its competitors.

“IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RISKY” – The day before, Iannone had run 39 laps and his best time was one second and six tenths off the one set by his team-mate Aleix Espargaro. “I’m not OK, it’s better that Bradley Smith rides instead of me. We have many things to test and I’m not in the right state to carry out this task. It would have been risky”, said Iannone, before he left Malaysia. Iannone will undergo further checks in the upcoming days, so that he can recover in time for Qatar Test (scheduled from 23rd to 25th February).

WASTED TIME – Aprilia hopes that Iannone can help the team in going higher in the MotoGP ranking, but the collaboration didn’t start as planned. We’ll see if the Italian squad will make up for lost time.
