MotoGP Qatar, FP1: Morbidelli takes the lead, Aprilia follows

Franco Morbidelli takes the lead on the first free practice in Qatar. Aleix Espargaró 2nd with Aprilia, third place for Jack Miller’s Ducati after a crash

Here starts the first free practice of the 2021 season in Qatar. Four rookies in MotoGP this year: Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini (Esponsorama Racing), Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia), and Jorge Martín (Pramac Racing). Marc Márquez is absent, 2021 will start late for him, while in his place there is once again the tester Stefan Bradl. A bad start for Viñales and Alex Márquez, both without chief technicians due to preventive quarantine.

Morbidelli is in command, followed by Viñales, Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaró. Yamaha’s # 21 keeps the first place up to the checkered flag, followed just over a tenth by Aleix Espargaró and the Ducati driven by Jack Miller.
