MotoGP: What if Jorge Lorenzo joined HRC Honda?

Jorge Lorenzo may join Marc Marquez at HRC Honda. It’s the incredible hypothesis you can read on today’s issue of “La Gazzetta dello Sport”. “It looks like the news about Jorge Lorenzo going back to Yamaha for 2019 season was false writes MotoGP reporter Paolo Ianieri. “Why? Because the next destination of Jorge seems to be Honda. And a Factory one. He would join Marc Marquez and replace Dani Pedrosa. Science fiction? Not really.”

NO EVIDENCE – At the same time, Gazzetta says that there’s no evidence about it, since everybody at HRC remains silent. “The only certainty is that Pedrosa will leave Honda after 18 seasons, including also those in 125cc and 250cc classes. Alberto Puig communicated his decision to Sete Gibernau and the terrible weekend lived by Dani at Mugello, where he had his worst Qualifying result ever and a crash during the first lap, prove how he felt.” Now we need to understand what Pedrosa will do: it would be very sad, if a rider like him remained out of MotoGP.

FOG – Lorenzo may join HRC also due to lack of alternatives: he should have joined Yamaha thanks to Petronas, but now this is very unlikely to happen. Satellite M1 machines should go to Angel Nieto Team. But the Spanish squad, currently with Ducati, in uncertain about the future following Jorge Martinez’s legal trouble (concerning F1 Valencia GP). If there’s no other possibility, Dorna (playing a key role in negotiations) maybe be forced to put Lorenzo on a HRC Honda.
