Red Bull Rookies Cup Austria, Race 1: Ryusei Yamanaka scores first win

After getting pole position on Friday 10th, Ryusei Yamanaka achieved his first win in Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup by triumphing in packed Race 1. The Japanese rider was joined on the podium by Xavier Artigas and Can Öncü. Race 2 will take place tomorrow at 15.30 local time.

At the start, Artigas went first ahead of Yamanaka, who immediately got 1st position back in his hands. The two led a very crowded group composed by 14 riders, but Spanish Adrián Carrasco left it midway the race due to black flag, since he didn’t serve ride-through penalty for jump start. After that, 13 riders fought in the front and overtook each other at every corner.

At the last lap Ryusei Yamanaka won ahead of Xavier Artigas and Can Öncü, while the other Turkish twin Deniz finished fourth. Czech star Filip Salač ranked fifth ahead of Carlos Tatay and Colombian Steward García, while Peetu Paavilainen, Billy van Eerde and Sean Kelly closed the top 10. Last lap saw also a huge crash involving Gerry Salim, Yuki Kunii and Max Cook, all taken to Medical Centre for deeper check.
