Valentino Rossi talks about politics, the choice of Yamaha factory riders, his girlfriend Francesca Novello, and Andrea Dovizioso.
Will this season be Valentino Rossi’s last one in MotoGP? The results of the first competitions will decree the sentence. He’s 42 but the way of thinking and of facing the races has not changed. Not even the anger for that tenth title vanished in 2015 after a few disagreements with Marc Marquez. Six years later, he has not changed his opinion on his Spanish rival. He does not deny the Cabroncito’s talent, but he admits: “Marquez was not the strongest opponent I met”.
VALE AND POLITICS
In a few days Valentino Rossi will celebrate his 42nd birthday. Now, he even finds time to take a look at politics. “I’ve never been too critical with Conte, with the government. It seems to me that it is difficult to manage this chaos, all the countries of the world have gone into crisis, and it is easy to disapprove of those who try to solve”. In a historical era made difficult by the pandemic, the hope is that the governors can find a solution to the main problems that afflict the people. “I hope for a serious plan for vaccines and support for workers in difficulty. I would like a real strategy to return to normality, to appreciate Italy more than before “.
FRANCESCA THE SOUL MATE
In the interview with Corriere della Sera, Valentino Rossi talked about love too. He could soon get married to Francesca Novello, maybe when he finally says stop to his career as a MotoGP rider. Their love story has been going well for years, they are inseparable even in the paddock. Finally, he seems to have found his soul mate. “We found each other, we have similar characters. She is always positive, she works hard to solve problems, and she’s like an excellent shoulder to me. Neither of us likes to fight”.
THE 2021 SEASON
Next MotoGP season will see him out of the Yamaha factory team. He will race for Petronas SRT team. A choice that he gladly accepted, even if not shared. “They picked the 2021 riders before 2020 started and that’s a mistake in my opinion. It’s a MotoGP vice. We should wait for at least a few races. However, Quartararo is still a promise and Viñales, even with ups and downs, is very strong. They will do well, I’m sure”.
Andrea Dovizioso, a colleague of many battles, won’t be present. “For me, he is fast and he’s an expert. We should ask him, maybe he didn’t feel like it anymore.” Many students of the VR46 Academy promise a successful career. Who will he pass the baton to? “I see more than one among the Academy guys. Starting with Morbidelli, who comes from a stratospheric season. Bagnaia is very strong too, in my opinion, he will have a great year with Ducati. And then my brother Luca: every time we shoot at the Ranch it always makes a difference. There are Bezzecchi, Vietti and Manzi too.”
