MXGP Lettonia, Race 1: Jeffrey Herlings beats Antonio Cairoli

After dominating Qualifying race (50 seconds of advantage) , Jeffrey Herlings won the first race at Kegums by a great recovery. After a bad start, the Dutchman recovered till second position and then he passed Tony Cairoli and escaped to win. 

TONY STARTED WELL… – Antonio Cairoli had gone first in the early stages by overtaking Romain Febvre ad then he had increased his advantage on the French Yamaha rider. In the meantime his team-mate and rival Herlings got stuck in the big group at the start, but then he showed an incredible pace and recovered till reaching Cairoli halfway the 30 minutes (+ 2 laps) of the race.

…BUT FINALLY HERLINGS WON – Few minutes later, Herlings made the deecisive overtake on Cairoli and since then he distanced the nine times World Champion till reaching 5 seconds of advantage. So the Dutch won Race 1 at Kegums in front of Cairoli and Romain Febvre, with Gautier Paulin and Clement Desalle closing top 5.

 

MX2 – In MX2 Thomas Kjer Olsen won Gara 1 bby beating home hero and championship leader Pauls Jonass and Thomas Covington joined the first two on the podium. Just 10th place for the Spaniard Jorge Prado.
