After the good pace showed during Free and Time Practice, Kiara Fontanesi was expected to win Race 1 at Teutschenthal and beat her rival Courtney Duncan, but in the end the Kiwi girl won once again and the one scored today is her fourth victory in a row in 2018.
KIARA TOPS – At the beginning Fontanesi took the lead by overtaking Duncan and then her advantage on the championship leader increased lap by lap. Halfway the race Fontanesi slowed down because of some lapped riders and this enabled Duncan to close the gap, which later increased again because of another lapped pack.
DECISIVE MOVE – But towards the end of the 20 minutes of race (followed by 2 more laps), Duncan bridged the gap from Fontanesi once again and this time it endend well for her, because she went first with a fantastic move on the outside and then she distanced Fontanesi and won the race. Second place for Fontanesi, while Dutch Nancy van de Ven ranked third ahead of home hero Larissa Papenmeier.
CHAMPIONSHIP – This amazing win makes Courtney Duncan’s advantage on her opponents increase and now the young Kiwi is first with 115 points, followed by Larissa Papenmeier (105), Nancy van de Ven (100) and Kiara Fontanesi (96).
