MXGP Indonesia: Jeffrey Herlings wins Qualifying Race after training injury

The Indonesian circuit of Pangkal Pinang is hosting the twelfth MXGP of the season and Qualifying Race was won by Jeffrey Herlings. After the shoulder injury that ruled him out of Ottobiano races, Herlings dominated the 20 minutes + 2 laps of the race and so he will be allowed to choose the best starting place for tomorrow’s races. His rival Antonio Cairoli has instead finished in second position.

COMEBACK – At the beginning it was Cairoli who too the lead, but a mistake made during the first lap caused TC222 to fall to sixth and then Herlings escaped and dominated the race. Most of the excitement was provided by Cairoli, who went from sixth to second position by overtaking Clement Desalle and Gautier Paulin, while Glenn Coldenhoff and Tim Gajser joined the list of the victims of Pangkal Pinang after being third and fourth for many laps. Cairoli tried to catch Herlings, but the Dutchman finally won ahead of his team-mate in Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, while Clement Desalle ranked third.

MX2 – MX2 Qualifying Race was won by Spaniard Jorge Prado, challenging reigning Champion Pauls Jonass in the fight for the title. Jonass, by contrast, ranked fifth also behind Ben Watson, Thomas Kjer Olsen and Thomas Covington, who finished in this order from second to fourth position.
