MXGP: Jeffrey Herlings made Knight in the Netherlands

Jeffrey Herlings‘ golden days are not over yet. 2018 MXGP World Champion has been made a “Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau“, a honor which is given to Dutch personalities for reaching great results in their fields. A well-deserved award for the Dutchman, who provided great racing also at 2018 Motocross of Nations.

”What an incredible night”, said Herlings. “It’s wonderful to be awarded such honor, one of the best things happened in my life. I wasn’t ready, I didn’t expect it at all. I’ll come home with a big smile on my face”. Herlings was made Knight by Dutch Sports Minister Bruno Bruins at Royal Dutch Motorcycle Federation Gala. Bruins spoke very nice words to Herlings: “You’re a great champion and you’re a role model for everyone watching you. Our King couldn’t be here in Assen, but he knows about your results and so he decided to make you a Knight”.

During the same event, Jeffrey Herlings received also the greatest award in Dutch sports: Hans de Beaufort Trophy. Who gave it to him is KTM Motorsport’s Pit Beirer, who said: “You deserve this award for how hard you fight and for the great way you represent the Netherlands in Motocross. You’re a real Motocross ambassador”.

Despite receiving so many awards, Jeffrey Herlings is fully focused on 2019 season,  whose first round will take place in Argentina on 2nd-3rd March.
