2019 AMA Supercross FIM World Championship is definitely not short in surprising results. While the first two races were won by Justin Barcia and Blake Baggett, the first “Triple Crown” round of the season saw Cooper Webb triumphing ahead of his team-mate Marvin Musquin and Eli Tomac. Fourth place overall for Ken Roczen, while fifth position went consistent Dean Wilson. Reigning Champion Jason Anderson finished 9th.
MAIN EVENT 1 – Holeshot went to Ken Roczen, who took the lead ahead of Cooper Webb and Marvin Musquin. Definitely not the best start for Eli Tomac, but later the Kawasaki rider climbed the classification till 3rd place. While Tomac lost podium-finish due to Marvin Musquin’s final overtake, Ken Roczen was passed by Cooper Webb at the last corner, after leading the race from the very beginning. So, Webb scored a great first 2019 win on #2 KTM machine.
MAIN EVENT 2 – The second holeshot of the round was taken by Cooper Webb, who moved to first place in front of Cole Seely and Marvin Musquin. The first highlight of the race happened just few minutes later, when Ken Roczen fell while trying to pass Justin Barcia. As he rejoined the race in ninth position, the German and Eli Tomac (who had one more start to forget) started a furious comeback who took them to final fourth and fifth place. The race was won by Cooper Webb ahead of Marvin Musquin and Justin Barcia. Jason Anderson finished sixth, while a technical problem forced evergreen Chad Reed to miss the race.
MAIN EVENT 3 – Eli Tomac used the new launch control system on his Kawasaki at best, as he had a great start. Following a clash with Chad Reed, Jason Anderson went down in the ranking till 17th place, probably due to a rear-brake issue. Meanwhile, Eli Tomac escaped the pack and Marvin Musquin passed his team-mate Cooper Webb. Behind them, a great fight involved Chad Reed and Ken Roczen, with the latter finally defeating Australian veteran. Another highlight is represented by the bad crash suffered by Justin Barcia. Final results: Eli Tomac secured Main Event 3 win ahead of Marvin Musquin and Cooper Webb. Cooper Webb is the first “Triple Crown” winner of 2019 season.
OVERALL FINAL CLASSIFICATION –
