Superbike: Milwaukee Aprilia interested in Jonas Folger

.Will Jonas Folger replace the injured Eugene Laverty in the next three 2018 World Superbike rounds? Milwaukee Aprilia is looking for a high-level rider and the German is at the top of the list. The interest of the British team in Folger has been confirmed by Bob Moore, Jonas’ Manager.

In the past few days Aprilia Milwaukee Team Owner, Shaun Muir, asked for information about the state of health of Folger, who decided not to participate in 2018 MotoGP season (he should race with Tech 3 Yamaha alongside Johann Zarco) because of Gilbert’s Syndrome. Here’s what Bob Moore said to the German website “Shaun sent me an SMS, but I haven’t talked to Jonas for some weeks, so I cannot give any information at the moment”. But Folger is recovering and looking for opportunities to come back and this has been confirmed also by the agency that manages the rider’s interests.

While waiting for news about Jonas’ intentions (and state of health), Aprilia Milwaukee is considering some alternatives and the most obvious one seems to be Matteo Baiocco, who rides an Aprilia RSV4 in Italian Championship and is Aprilia Racing tester for MotoGP. But Shaun Muir would prefer a young rider, that could be a good solution in the long term. A deal with Maximilian Scheib is unlikely: the Chilean has got potential, but he’s already been signed for 2018 European Superstock 1000 Championship. Scheib will fight for the title together with Aprilia Racing, which will be involved in the campaign together with Nuova M2 Racing Team.
