After the end of the GP, here you are another unexpected turn of events: Quartararo is disqualified for non-regulatory tyres’ pressure, so Bagnaia wins!
After the official end of today’s GP, we got a really unexpected news from Moto2: Fabio Quartararo was disqualified for the too low pressure of his rear tyre, a technical detail that came out during the routinary post-race checks. This means that Francesco Bagnaia wins the race in Motegi, his fellow countryman Lorenzo Baldassarri is 2nd and Miguel Oliveira gets the 3rd podium step. This way, the latter is now at 37 points from the current World Championship leader.
Quartararo definitely had a nice race today, as he soon overtook Bagnaia and then kept the head of the race until the chequered flag, resisting all the Italian rider’s attacks. But as we said, it was all for nothing. “Pecco” will have the Australian round to gain the match point that would give him the title he had been working for since the beginning of the season, with victories, good positions in many occasions and a lot of hard-fought battles against his main rival Miguel Oliveira. The latter seems to be having some issues recently, but he is certainly not ready to give up. Phillip Island will have the final say.
