MotoGP Le Mans, FP2: Dovizioso 1° ahead of Marquez

Andrea Dovizioso celebrates his contract’s renewal making the best time of the day ahead of Marquez and an all-Yamaha trio.

The second round of FP gave us the overall best times of the weekend, up to now: with an amazing 1:31.936 (the only rider under 1:32) Andrea Dovizioso has been the fastest rider this Friday, the icing on the cake after his contract with Ducati was renewed for another two years. He won ahead of the World Champion Marc Marquez and an all-Yamaha trio, with Rossi followed by Viñales and Zarco.

This round of FP started with a number of falls, three in the first few minutes: Pol Espargaro fell on Garage Vert, then Scott Redding on Musée and finally rookie Franco Morbidelli fell on Chemin aux Boeufs Turn. Meanwhile Marquez immediately took the lead, followed by his brand-mate Crutchlow and by Dovizioso, although the situation kept on changing quite rapidly. In this session Dani Pedrosa showed up on track with a new fairing that was previously tested at Mugello Circuit and used during FP1 by his teammate.

Eventually, Andrea Dovizioso conquered the leading position in the ranking, just ahead of the current World Champion. After them came Valentino Rossi, Maverick Viñales, and Johann Zarco’s Yamahas. Jack Miller got the 6th place, followed by Pol Espargaro and Dani Pedrosa. The Top 10’s last positions went to Aleix Espargaro and Jorge Lorenzo.
