Superbike: Althea MIE Racing unveils bike, livery and rider for 2019

With the Museo dei Miti in Civita Castellana serving as a backdrop, and in the presence of members of the press and key sponsors, the Althea MIE Racing Team has taken to the stage in its new 2019 configuration.

The new season brings some big changes for the team, both in terms of sponsorship and at a technical level. First and foremost, the birth of a new partnership between Althea Racing and Moriwaki Honda, a collaboration that will see the team compete on track with the Honda CBR 1000 RR SP2.

Ready for the upcoming Superbike World Championship season, the Italian squad headed up by Genesio Bevilacqua puts its trust in young talent Alessandro Delbianco, who will debut in the Superbike class with the Japanese bike. Delbianco has already raced with Althea, taking part in the Superstock 1000 category in 2018, and the first tests of 2019, which have recently concluded at Jerez, have brought positive results.

During the presentation, team owner Genesio Bevilacqua took to the stage to talk about the organisation of his new-look team, before rider Alessandro Delbianco spoke about the challenges that await him this year. This was followed by the unveiling of the new livery of the CBR 1000 RR SP2, Delbianco and Bevilacqua joined on the stage by Midori Moriwaki and Antonio Croce (Breco’s 1975).

Genesio Bevilacqua (Althea MIE Racing Team Owner): “We are very proud to embark on this new adventure together with Honda and Moriwaki. We have always strived to identify new talents, giving them the opportunity to grow at an international level, and this is what we will now do with Alessandro Delbianco, a rookie in the Superbike category. Alessandro has already raced with Althea in 2018, in the Superstock 1000 class, and he has still to express his full potential. We will do all we can to help him develop this season, as we work to achieve the kind of results that we know are within our reach. I would like to highlight our ongoing relationship with Simone Bustreo’s BMP Tappi, official sponsor, and Breco’s 1975 in the shape of Antonio Croce, who support us and join us on this new adventure with great passion.

Alessandro Delbianco: “I have to say that I’m very excited to be here with the team and my new CBR 1000 RR SP2. This presentation marks the start of a new adventure, and I must thank Genesio, Midori Moriwaki and the whole team. I hope to soon be able to repay the faith they are putting in me. Over the winter, I have focused on my training and physical and mental preparation, in order to be able to make the best possible start to the season. I cannot wait to get out on track at Phillip Island!
