Superbike Assen, Warm Up: Tom Sykes sets the fastest lap

Tom Sykes set the fastest lap of the World Superbike Warm Up session at Assen, interrupted with the red flag due to the fall of Loris Baz. Behind Sykes, 2nd place for Xavi Fores, who was once again the best Ducati rider in the classification. Jonathan Rea, Race 1 winner, ranked third.

DAVIES READY TO FIGHT– Fourth place for Chaz Davies, who will try to contrast Rea in Race 2. Due to the rule reversing the grid for Race 2 according to Race 1 results, the two riders will start from the third row together with Michael van der Mark. The only concern is Rea: in Race 1 he distanced his opponents during the final stages of the race and this proved that he still has something more than his opponents. Moreover, Rea leads the championship with 21 points of advantage and a double win in the Netherlands would be very helpful for him. And it would be terrible for Ducati! Marco Melandri, Chaz Davies’ team-mate, ranked 7th in WUP.

JUST 18 RIDERS – Since Jake Gagne won’t be on the track due to an injury sustained in FP2 crash, just 18 riders will participate in Race 2. This means that Ten Kate will not participate in Race 2 in their home round, since Leon Camier is still recovering from Aragon injury. The Dutch squad managed to get many good results on home soil, including a win in 2014 with Jonathan Rea. Today Race 2 will start at 13:00 local time.
