Superbike Brno, FP3: Jonathan Rea remains first

The third World Superbike Free Practice session at Brno was affected by an interruption. Michael Rinaldi had an engine failure with just 10 minutes to go and the oil spilled at Turn 5 caused the red flag to be waved.

Apart from this, nothing particular happened in FP3 and once again Jonathan Rea topped the standings. When the session restarted, the reigning World Champion performed an amazing lap in 1’59.403 and so he remained first after leading the way already in FP2. Behind him we find Tom Sykes and Marco Melandri, who didn’t manage to improve their laptimes compared to the second session (respectively 1’59.671 and 1’59.795).

1’59.830 is the best personal time of Lorenzo Savadori, who ranked second in FP3 and fourth in Friday combined classification. The Milwaukee Aprilia rider was followed by Alex Lowes, Chaz Davies and Michael van der Mark. Despite the problem he suffered, Rinaldi remained in Friday top 10 and so he will go straight to SP2 together also with Leon Camier and Loris Baz. These three riders ranked 8th, 9th and 10th.
