Despite home hero Marco Melandri getting closer, Jonathan Rea remained in first place after FP2. He didn’t improve his laptime compared to FP1, but Rea was anyway the fastest man on the track, thanks to a lap in 1’47″038. Behind him, Marco Melandri went faster than in the morning and his laptime (1’47″150) was enough to overtake Chaz Davies. Davies ranked third in front of Aprilia Milwaukee’s Lorenzo Savadori.
CAMIER OUT – But the most important news about FP2 is Leon Camier’s renounciation. “Shafter” tried to come back after Aragon injury (three broken ribs), but after crashing at Variante Bassa in FP1 and the just seven laps made in FP2, Camier decided to stop. The pain prevents him from riding his CBR-RR properly and so, from FP3, he’ll be replaced by Jason O’Halloran, Australian rider racing in British Superbike with Honda. O’Halloran was second in BSB Race 2 at Oulton Park and he will race once again against Leon Haslam, the winner of that race.
