Superbike Misano, FP2: Lorenzo Savadori surprises on home soil

Free Practice 2 at Misano provided a stunning performance from Lorenzo Savadori. The Milwaukee Aprilia rider (who lives quite close to Misano) managed to secure first place during the final minutes of the session, when he performed one lap in 1’34.562. A great lap from “Sava”, who is looking for a great result in his home race weekend.

Milwaukee Aprilia can be very satisfied with how FP2 went, also because Eugene Laverty ranked second by riding in 1’35.002. “Eugenio”, who scored his first podium in 2018 at Laguna Seca, was just one millisecond faster than Jonathan Rea. The reigning World Champion led the session from the start till the final Savadori’s assault.

Fourth and fifth place for Loris Baz and Alex Lowes, very close to Laverty: Baz was just 23 milliseconds slower than him, while Lowes had 46 milliseconds off the Irish. Leon Camier, Marco Melandri, Xavi Forés, Chaz Davies and Tom Sykes closed the top 10.

Every rider improved his laptime compared to FP1, with the last fourt riders (Toprak Razgatlioglu, Alessandro Andreozzi, PJ Jacobsen and Jake Gagne) representing the only exceptions.
