At Donington Park Ana Carrasco did it again. The girl from Murcia repeated the triumphant ride at Imola and the disappointing performance by Luca Grünwald (just 10th) helps her increasing her advantage in championship standings, now counting 22 points. David Salom’s DS Junior Team Kawasaki lived an amazing day also thanks to Dorren Loureiro, who ranked second after beating on the finish line Borja Sánchez. The Spaniard, who raced thanks to crowdfunding after sudden budget issues, finished third on the ETG Racing’s Ninja 400 and so he completed an amazing triple for Kawasaki.
ANA DOMINATES – Ana Carrasco showed her superiority from the beginning. After the first lap the Spaniard, who started from pole position, crossed the line with almost one second of advantage on Koen Meuffels and since then she increased her advantage on her opponents, whose first one was Scott Deroue (after an overtake on Meuffels alt the third lap). Deroue tried to close the gap between him and Carrasco, but he didn’t make it and in the final laps Dorren Loureiro, Borja Sánchez, Enzo De La Vega and Koen Meuffels caught. So, while Carrasco won with much advantage, the other riders fought till the end and finally Deroue was overtaken by Dorren Loureiro and Borja Sánchez, who scored good podium finishes, and also by De La Vega and Meuffels (4th and 5th).
GRÜNWALD STRUGGLES – Very hard race for Luca Grünwald, who theorically is the main rival of Ana Carrasco. The German rider struggled more than expected at his first race at Donington Park and, after starting 14th, he couldn’t do better than 10th, also behind his team-mate Jan-Ole Jähnig, Mika Pérez and Galang Hendra Pratama.
