Supersport Assen: Penalty cancelled, Luke Stapleford back to fifth

From fifth to 15th…And back to fifth. This is how Assen race went to Luke Stapleford. The talented Triumph rider had finished World Supersport Race at Assen in fifth place, but then he had been given a 30-second penalty for causing, in the opinion of Race Direction, the scary high-speed crash of Federico Caricasulo. The penalty had made “Lucra #81” fall from fifth till 15th place.

At the end of the race the rider and Profile Racing Team appealed agains this decision and Race Direction analysed the crash again. Finally it was proved that Stapleford had no responsibility in the accident and the penaltiy was cancelled. Therefore, the 27-year-old rider from Leicester took 5th position back in his hands and thanks to this result he’s now sixth in championship standings with 38 points.
