Supersport 2019: Pedercini Racing join WorldSSP and sign Ayrton Badovini

After experiencing hard times this year with MV Agusta Reparto Corse (just four top-10 results in 12 races), for next season Ayrton Badovini will jump on a 2019-spec Kawasaki ZX-6R and compete again in Supersport World Championship, as he will join Pedercini Racing. The team owned by former rider Lucio Pedercini has just decided to spend next season not just in World Superbike with Gabriele Ruiu, but also in WorldSSP and the first rider they’ve decided to bet on is Badovini.

After the birth of his son Emanuele, this deal represents one more good news for Badovini, who will make his return to Pedercini Racing eleven years after: the rider from Biella had raced for the Italian team already in 2008, when he experienced his rookie season in Superbike World Championship. “I know Pedercini Racing Team, since they’re the team I debuted in WorldSBK with back in 2008 – said 2010 FIM Superstock 1000 Champion – and I know how hard Lucio Pedercini and the whole team work, so I see it as a both stimulating and appreciated comeback.

Here’s what Lucio Pedercini had to say: “I’m very happy with signing an experienced rider like Ayrton Badovini and I believe he can be very fast in this championship we’ve just decided to invest on. I know Ayrton very well and I know how competitive he can be on the right bike, so I’m very happy to work with him again.

Pedercini Racing are currently taking into consideration different options to double their line-ups in both Superbike and Supersport World Championships.
