Supersport: María Herrera to debut in WorldSSP with Yamaha MS Racing

María Herrera won’t spend 2019 season just in newly created FIM MotoE World Cup. The Spaniard, in fact, will also compete in Supersport World Championship with Yamaha MS Racing and so she’ll become the second woman to participate in a World Supersport season (the first one was Paola Cazzola in 2010).

Born in Toledo, Herrera raced in Moto3 World Championship from 2015 to 2017 and there she scored a bunch of point finishes. In 2018 she joined Yamaha MS Racing to fight for the title in World Supersport 300, but some problems prevented her from doing better than 13th. In any case, the trouble she experienced in WorldSSP300 shouldn’t obscure her skills: we remind you that in the past, Herrera was able to fight (and won a race) in CEV Moto3 against riders like Fabio Quartararo, Marcos Ramírez and Nicolò Bulega.

Herrera already knows 600cc bikes (she occasionally raced in CEV RFME Superstock 600 last year), but 2019 will be her first year in World Supersport. To be remarked, Herrera will miss the round taking place in Donington Park from 5th to 7th July: in that weekend, she’ll be racing in MotoE at Sachsenring…
