CIA Landlord Insurance Honda are delighted to welcome Péter Sebestyén to the team to contest the remaining five rounds of the 2018 World Supersport Championship.
Whilst still only 24 years old Hungarian rider Sebestyén has competed in a number of categories, first learning his craft in the Red Bull Rookies Cup and the Spanish and German 125 Championships. World Superbike and STK1000 followed before Supersport beckoned and 2017 saw Sebestyen contest the full European Supersport Champonship.
Sebestyén said: “It’s a great pleasure to ride for such a great and successful team like CIA Landlord Insurance Honda. I’ve had some very difficult seasons, I had to change categories and teams in every year but I am happy to arrive here. CIA Landlord Insurance Honda are very professional and it’s a great place to concentrate only on my riding and the results. My target is to be faster from session to session and I’m sure it will bring good results. This year I would like to show my potential to the team, the sponsors and the fans and to have a long term cooperation with the team. I haven’t ridden a Honda for a long time but it’s going to be fun because I have some great memories. I would like to say a big thank you to Simon Buckmaster who has just given me a huge opportunity!”
CIA Landlord Insurance Honda Team Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “Andrew Irwin was originally offered to just test the Ducati at Knockhill and race at Snetterton but now with being offered the ride for the rest of the season he has decided to step back to British Superbike so we have the opportunity to take a replacement rider. We are very pleased to welcome Péter to the team for the remainder of this season and we are looking toward a long-term relationship for the future. We have always worked with riders to build their performance and work with them using all our data and experience. We are excited going into Misano where there will be no pressure on Péter, he is riding the bike without the opportunity to test it and stepping into the extremely competitive World Supersport championship as Andrew has found out. (…) Realistically we are looking to the points and then the top ten. We are very pleased to be able to give Péter the opportunity to show his true potential working with a highly experienced, established team for the first time. Péter Sebestyén makes his first appearance in CIA Landlord Insurance Honda colours at the Pirelli Riviera Di Rimini Round, Misano, Italy from 06-08 July 2018.
