After dominating all the practice sessions, Markus Reiterberger did the same thing at the most important moment of the weekend: the race. The three times Superbike IDM Champion won after leading the race from the first till the last lap and this victory represents his third one in a row after 2017 Jerez Round and last week’s Motorland Aragon race. Behind him second place for Roberto Tamburini, while Maximilian Scheib ranked third and was followed by Federico Sandi.
KAISER – Markus Reiterberger set the record straight already at the start, when he defended first position from Roberto Tamburini’s assault. The Berclaz BMW rider tried to keep the German’s pace, but finally he had to content with 2nd position. There was no fight for first and second position, but Maximilian Scheib took third place after battling with Federico Sandi till the 8th lap, when the Chilean Aprilia rider distanced Ducati Motocorsa Racing’s Sandi (still suffering after a huge crash he had in FP2).
THE REST – Behind the top 4 and Florian Marino (who ranked fifth), the spectators in Assen saw an exciting fight for sixth position involving Alessandro Delbianco, Luca Vitali and Jan Bühn, who were joined by Gabriele Ruiu and Riccardo Russo during the final stages. Finally 6th place went to Vitali, who crossed the line in front of Ruiu, Delbianco, Russo and Bühn.
