After ranking just fourth in wet Brno race, Markus Reiterberger dominated the Misano one from the first to the last lap and this enabled him to score his fourth win in 2018. The German’s advantage on Maximilian Scheib in championship standings now amounts to 14 points, as he got 124 points against the 110 achieved by the Chilean.
SUPREMACY – Reiterberger set the pace from the very beginning, when he remained first by a good start. The Alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW rider was closely followed in the first laps by Maximilian Scheib (Aprilia Racing) and Riccardo Russo (Ducati Motocorsa Racing), but later on “Reiti”‘s pace was unsustainable for the duo and the gap increased. So Reiterberger won, while Scheib and Russo scored lonely 2nd and 3rd place after a not so exciting race.
NO REPEAT FOR FERRARI – Who was missing in the front is Matteo Ferrari. The Barni Racing Ducati wildcard fell at Curva del Carro during the second lap and this prevented him from repeating the win scored last May at Imola. Ferrari crashed while he was fighting for 4th place with riders like Roberto Tamburini (BMW Berclaz Racing) and Federico Sandi (Ducati Motocorsa Racing), who finally crossed the line in 4th and 5th place. Axel Bassani (debuting in STK1000 as a wildcard entry), Florian Marino, Samuele Cavalieri, Luca Vitali and Gabriele Ruiu closed the top 10, while Alessandro Delbianco didn’t start due to right-shoulder injury (suffered in Italian Championship two weeks ago).
